Awaiting Avery...

I'm officially 40 weeks...and 5 days now.  I haven't been the best at updating over the past month or so...but I've found myself with some "extra" time (between the packing)...so here's a little of what we've been up to for the past month.  About 6 weeks ago I moved back to San Antonio full-time to be closer to my doctor as Avery's due date approached (and now has passed).  It's been great being back in SA.  I managed to escape the insufferable heat of Laredo just in time.  But I do have to admit, there are a few things I miss about Laredo...in random order...well, except for the first one...Numero Uno being Zach.  It's been tough being away from him all week- but I've been definitely thankful to have him home on the weekends.  Numero Dos- my patients. Numero Tres- Chick-fil-a North Laredo and our friends the Hancocks.  Numero Cuatro- speaking Spanish, all day, every day.  Numero Cinco- not exactly in Laredo, but I do miss 5 hrs of drive time with Zach every week.  So since I said adios to Laredo I've been working at the Children's hospital here two days a week, walking dogs, and packing our house.  Starting at the beginning of June the family rotations to make sure I was well looked after started.  Zach's mom aka Avery's Gammy came and stayed with me the first week of June.  She was a huge help with packing and dog walking...and took Miss Luna back with her for summer camp in Abilene.  We miss the little Loon, but I don't miss the 6am wake up barks.  The next weekend my parents drove in and my mom has been here since.  My dad flew back to Iowa but came back in last night and they'll be staying for another 2 weeks or so.  My mom has been a great help as well...packing, making Goodwill runs, cleaning, foot massaging, and busting out her plumbing skills.  We are so thankful for our family's generosity with their time and willingness to serve us.  Wow.  Zach also took this week off and it's been so wonderfully amazing to have him here right now.  Everything is just better when he's here.  So we're trying to treat this "extra" time like a little vacation- doing things like sorting through our attic, listing things on craigslist, re-staining our deck, packing up our house...so fun right?  We've taken breaks though- we got to meet Baby Luke Hogan!, we had a great spicy dinner at a local Indian restaurant with my mom on Avery's due date...it didn't throw me into labor but we did have a great time.  Tuesday night we went downtown for dinner, strolled around the Art Museum, and took a lovely walk on the Riverwalk.  It's been great to just be together.  I will say the waiting can be challenging sometimes.  It took me awhile to believe that we were really pregnant.  I'm totally sold on that now.  But now to believe that we're actually going to hold our Avery in our arms, and that this could happen any day now?  Surreal.  And as the days pass...it seems harder to believe.  We have to keep reminding ourselves that God understands our situation better than we do (you know, the whole moving to Fort Worth in a week and a half thing and Zach having to go back to Laredo next week to finish his residency) and that His timing is perfect.  Always.  He knows exactly what Avery's needs are and has a specific time for her to be born.  So we wait expectantly on the Lord for Avery's birthday.
